Schematic presentation of library-based evolutionary molecular engineering. The first library which consists of arbitrarily collected members is subjected to the selection by affinity and then by function in the selection cycle. The selected molecules are processed to the clone-by-clone selection. Based on the information obtained from these selections, the second library is constructed. Furthermore, the second library is advanced to the selection cycle until identifying target peptides. MMVs can be utilized in the clonal selection. For details, see [34] in the text.
