Expression of CD69 (A and B) and CD25 (C and D) in VEGFR2-CARs with long and short extracellular spacers. T cells modified with the VEGFR2-CARs expressed CD69 and CD25 when co-cultured with 293-KDR cells but not with HEK-293 cells (dotted histograms). Long spacer CAR T cells expressed higher levels of CD69 (62 ± 6.5%) and CD25 (61 ± 3.3%), compared with the short spacer CAR-expressing CD69 (50 ± 2.4%) and CD25 (44 ± 4.1%). Results were presented as means ± SD of duplicate assays (n = 3) (**p < 0.01, *p < 0.05)
