Growth of C. glutamicum strains on CGXII medium with 100 mM d-ribose under aerobic conditions. C. glutamicum strains were aerobically pre-cultivated in 50 mL of CGIII medium. After washing the cells in CGXII minimal medium, the cultures were inoculated to obtain optical densities at 600 nm of approximately 1.5 (dry cell weight of 0.45 g/L).
