Vaccination and blood sample collection schedule. Groups of C3H/HeJ mice (n = 6) were vaccinated i.p. with three doses of HA1-2, HA1-2-fliC, or PBS on days 0, 14, and 28. The animals were bled on days 26 and 40, following the second and third immunization. In total, the animals were bled for about 3 months (84 days) at 12-day intervals, and the resulting serum samples were used to determine the serum antibody responses over time
