  1. Jet-milled slurry was subjected to two-stage bead milling at 50 °C using 0.5- and 0.1-mmΦ zirconia beads, respectively. An enzyme cocktail of 0.2 mL/g wood biomass (30 FPU/g glucan) was added in each saccharification stage (see Experimental Methods). Phosphate buffer (100 mM) was used for pH control. All values are the average of two analysis runs
