Lower-case letters: plant DNA sequence flanking the 3' end of the RR insert previously described [20]. Underlined letters: restriction sites for EcoRV and ScaI enzymes used in PCR-walking. Arrows and box indicate the positions of primers and probe. Forward primers for epPCR and rtqPCR start from position 171 and 563, respectively. Reverse primer was common to both assays.
