Specificity of the transcriptional amplification strategy based on synthetic bidirectional SYN (A) and GfaABC1D (B) promoters as demonstrated by immunostaining for neuronal antigen NeuN and glial antigen GFAP. LV-mCMV/SYN-EGFP (A) and LV-mCMV/GfaABC1D-EGFP (B) were stereotaxically injected into the rat hypoglossal motor nucleus at the dose of 1 × 106 IU viruses (n = 3). Tissues were collected 7 days after lentivirus injection. Frozen coronal transverse sections were used for NeuN and GFAP immunostaining.
