  1. The antimicrobial activity of seedcake preparations were tested on reference bacterial strains. The low concentration of seedcake preparation from control plants (10 mg/ml and 30 mg/ml) do not show any antibacterial properties (data not shown).
  2. *The antioxidant potential (IC50) was defined as the amount (μl) of preparation that inhibits luminol chemiluminescence by 50%. **The presented results are the inhibition rate compared to the untreated bacteria (% of growth inhibition) after 6 h treatment. The results are the mean values ± SD (n = 5).
